Prepare the home to function as a reception venue
Hosting a wedding at home requires checking vehicle access, plating space and storage capacity. The caterer needs the layout and an accurate equipment list. A garden is not a substitute for a production kitchen. Plan for wet weather and consider neighbourhood constraints when agreeing delivery, serving and departure times.
Confirm the decisions that determine the final cost
After any tasting, approve the menu, adult and child numbers, supplier meals and timetable. The contract should separate food, drinks, staff, hire and cleaning. Ask how last-minute changes and cancellation are handled. Appoint an available contact for the reception so that practical questions can be resolved without repeatedly interrupting the couple.
