PRACTICAL GUIDE

Starting a meal delivery business: key decisions

Define what the business will actually do

Transporting a restaurant's dishes, cooking your own menus and operating supported meal rounds are different activities. Before buying a vehicle, define customers, route coverage, packaging and each party's responsibility. Delivery costs also include empty mileage, containers and failed handovers. A limited operational trial can test whether the proposed pricing covers those practical demands.

Prepare the obligations before taking the first order

Business registration does not replace requirements concerning food, premises or transport. Establish which declarations and competencies apply to the chosen model, arrange suitable insurance and draft understandable sales conditions. French personal-service status follows a separate framework. It does not arise automatically simply because a company brings meals to people's homes.
