Look for the benefit in the assistance contract
Health insurance does not automatically reimburse delivered meals. Any help may sit within an assistance benefit triggered by a specified event such as hospitalisation. Read the policy wording and contact the appropriate assistance team rather than inferring cover from a product name. The number of meals, duration and eligible cost components may all be limited.
Get authorisation before arranging the service
An assistance company may require advance approval, a nominated provider or notification within a stated period. Confirm the process and personal contribution before ordering. Paying first does not guarantee reimbursement. When the covered period ends, check how continued deliveries would be charged so that temporary assistance does not become an unwanted subscription.
