This may preserve familiar food habits and allow the person to participate in enjoyable tasks. It also requires sufficient visiting time, usable equipment and an organised shopping plan. The assistant's charge is separate from the cost of groceries.
Specify the work included in the visit
Clarify whether the service covers chopping, cooking, portioning, washing up or assistance during the meal. Batch sizes should fit storage arrangements and any instructions already given. Ordinary housekeeping and support for a loss of independence may require different services. Choose after describing the actual difficulties, rather than assuming every in-home visit includes the same level of help.
