Read the duties behind the delivery job title
The role may involve restaurant orders, transport from a central kitchen or regular visits to household recipients. Hours, vehicles and responsibilities differ between these settings. Read the complete vacancy: packing bags, loading, checking temperatures or handling payment may be included. A job title alone provides little certainty about how the working day is organised.
Compare earnings with the costs of doing the work
Distinguish employment from self-employment and establish who supplies the vehicle, phone and insurance. Payment per trip is not directly comparable with an hourly wage without accounting for waiting time and expenses. Ask about induction, protective equipment and breaks. Delivery targets should never be treated as a reason to take risks on the road.
